Holiday Greetings -- Page 2

After the implant surgery and the subsequent activation of the device, we were ready to take the show out on the road.  We made a trip to France to visit Daniel's family.   Daniel hadn't been to Paris in over 4 years and Dave had never been, so the trip was long overdue for both.  Daniel's aunt and uncle, Silvie and Francis (Karines parents), graciously hosted a family reunion at their home outside Paris.  Daniel's sister and neice, Anges and Sara, flew out from Denver.  Uncle Rene and his wife Elizabeth came to the affaire as did Daniel's grandmother.  It was a very special event for everyone.

After the reunion, we took a couple of days to just see Paris by ourselves.  Daniel is an incredible tourguide!  We enjoyed the Louvre, the Left Bank, the Picasso Museum, the Grand Arch, and of course, the Eiffel Tower.  We felt very fortunate to have decent weather.

After a week in Paris we boarded the Thalys "Bullet Train" bound for Amsterdam.  Have to say this: what a civilized way to travel.  If you count the time getting to/from the airports, the security, the lines and everything else, the trip was far faster and 1,000 times more comfortable than flying.  Oh, and at about 200 mph, it doesn't feel like your are standing still either.

Amsterdam was fun, but far more low-key than we had anticipated.  The weather was pretty grim -- cold and raining most days -- and there were no major events going on in the city.  We made the most of it though and got out to see the Van Gogh Museum, the Jewish Museum and many other sights around town.   There are many remarkable things about Amsterdam.  The pace of life is so comfortable.  The streets are clean.  Traffic is almost non-existent.  The friendliness and multi-lingualism of the citizens are incredible.

We want to wish everyone the very best for this holiday season and on into 2003.  We look forward to more time spent with friends and family.  We hope the new year brings you a renewed spirit of optimism.  Most of all, we wish for a world commited to Peace.

With much love,

Daniel & Dave
